Butterflies....

I have been walking around for days now....

....with butterflies fluttering around in my stomach!!!

I wake up, and there they are.
As I make lunch, I can feel them.
Through out the day, through all the mundane rituals of my day....those little guys are just a fluttering.

Why???

I am so darn excited and extremely nervous about our upcoming trip to China to bring home Avery.

(We are leaving a week from tomorrow!!!!)

Excitement:
another child!!!!! yeah!
meeting her
playing with her
getting to know her
holding her....(deep sigh!!!)
bringing her home....finally!
loving her, completely!!!!

Nervousness:
I have done this one time before, I am by no means an expert....but, boy oh boy, did Shea grieve!!!  She grieved for months....

Avery is almost four years old....my gosh, she is gonna be scared....to say the least!
She is not going to know what just hit her....how her life is going to change....so drastically!
We don't speak her language....this is huge!!!
She might just totally withdraw....
She might be very angry and aggressive....
She might be very, very sad.....
Oh my poor baby....

I do know that through this all and in the months to come, my Lord and Savior will be with us all!!
He will sustain us,
strengthen us,
hold us,
lead us,
enlighten us....
He will provide all we need!!!

Please lift us up in prayers....I know you will....cuz, you are all just amazing people!  And I do thank the Lord for you!!!

Yeah, one more thing....
I have one jealous little five year old here ( I won't name names or anything....ha-ha)....
Could you pray for her, too?????

  1. Wow - I could've written that post. I feel exactly the same way ('cept maybe the adopting before part). All the excitement, the nervousness, and His peace rolled up together. How people do this without looking to Him, I don't really know!
I'll definitely be praying for you!
Can't wait to meet you and Avery!

  3. Beautiful post...it will all work out. I remember that feeling all too well, and then it worked out to be much better than I had anticipated. Prayers for you all.

  4. LeighAnna had a short time of not being "herself" after Lydia came home. There will be the honeymoon, the not-so-honeymoon and then everyone will settle into a new normal. We'll be praying that second phase goes by quickly. ;-)
