This week I am reflecting upon the days and nights we spent in China....
The days and nights of Shea!!!
We were there three years ago....from February 24 until March 7....
The first week we spent in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
The second week, of course, in Guangzhou!
I still can't believe she has been with us for three years!!!!
Oh, how deeply she has embedded herself into our lives and especially our hearts!!!
I do believe I left a piece of my heart in China....
I can't begin to understand the complexities of China....
The history...
The culture....
The people....
But, I can appreciate and respect the history, the culture, and the people of China.
How can I not be in awe and wonder of the country in which Shea was born????
I am forever changed....
I am forever grateful.....
Please join me in this stroll down Memory Lane.....
First week in Chengdu.
Our first photo together.
Getting ready to put on a new outfit.
Our baby!!!
Already laughing!!!
Lovin' her bottle & Elmo
Goofing around with our beloved guide, Natalie!
Sleeping....finally!!
Second week in Guangzhou.
The dreaded medical exam!
Our last night in China....
Thanks for indulging me....
Thanks for posting those. I love looking back and enjoyed your photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing experience! I love how you said you left a piece of your heart there & that you are forever grateful & forever changed. I have been feeling like that about Ethiopia, but I haven't even been there yet! I am almost a bit fearful of the intensity of emotions, but I just said to Joe that I don't want to "be the same". Thanks for sharing b/c it made my feelings seem more "normal" (whatever that is!! lol)
ReplyDeleteShe was so little, with such short hair and pink cheeks! So so cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! I always love looking a pictures, but "old" ones from a sentimental occasion are always my faves! After walking through Avery's adoption with you, it was so nice to be able to get this glimpse at Shea's! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! She looks SO good in pink! How old was she when you got her? I would love to talk more! (vickicupp@hotmail.com) She looks close to how old Jenna will be when we go this summer.... Looks like you two had such a sweet time together.
ReplyDeleteOh Chris - That brought back memories. How fun to look at them. Shea looks so little!! Heather
ReplyDeletePRECIOUS memories!
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to go BACK!
Bob and I feel the same way Chris...left a piece of our hearts in China.
Chris,
ReplyDeleteJust plain beautiful...:)
That was so great and took me right back!! The time in China can be so hard at times but it is also very magical too!!! Thanks for taking me back and what a cutie your little Shea is!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this post!!! It's cute, I can tell it's Shea in the pictures - something in her eyes : ) Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteOh my! My Lily is also from Chengdu! We were there almost exactly a year after you, so Shae and Lily were only at the orphanage together for Lily's first couple of months of life (assuming Shae wasn't in foster care?). We loved Chengdu and hope to take her back there someday. Glad you posted this so I could make that connection! :)
