Shea's first day of school....about a month late

This kid LOVES school....I mean, just absolutely LOVES.HER.SCHOOL!

She loves her teacher....Miss M

She loves to paint, draw, glue, and cut!

She loves her chocolate milk and snack time.

She loves playing in the sand box.

She loves learning new songs and then singing them over and over and over at home for me!

She walks down the hallways like she owns the place.

Every one knows her...I am simply...'the mom'.

She also likes to pose....(what a surprise)

Here she is at home, just before we are getting ready to leave for the big day.

Getting in line....with the other kids....she's looking pretty excited!

Faith and I could hardly wait to pick her up......

I guess, she's not ready to call it a day.

Let's hope she always feels this way about school! :)

No More Tears

On Friday,  Shea and I went to the clinic to receive our yearly flu shots.

This is how she felt about it....

...can't really blame her though....
When we first came home with her from China, she needed to get 'caught up' with her vaccinations.  Little did she or I fully understand what that meant.  She received her first round of shots when she was 27 months old...so she remembers....
She remembers that two nurses held her down....
She remembers that one of her cute chubbly little thighs was injected twice while the other one was injected three time....yikes!!!!
I remember the hysterical crying...the look of 'you gotta be kidding me, Mom, what is going on here?'
There wasn't any band aid shinny enough, or pink enough to calm her down.
It didn't matter how many stickers she was given....she was mad, she was insulted, and she was scared!
For the next year until she was 'caught' up....the scene was pretty much the same.  And even when she was finally on schedule, any shot, even only one, pretty much freaked her out!

So imagine my surprise and delight when on this past Friday, she merely whimpered a small, sad little whimper...said I want my mommy...(which of course I was right there)....and took that shot without one.little.tear!!!!!!

I was so proud of my girl!!!

Today she decided to give all her babies and stuffies 'their shots'.
I think she did a wonderful job.  She was very gentle and loving....
but, I'll let you decide.

Here are some of the patients.

Here's the nurse.  (What a cutie!)

Here's Nurse Shea 'working'.

(Apparently, this armadillo needed  some extra shots....especially that one to the head!)

All done...and we're still all friends!!!

Disclaimer:
I am not dissing on nurses (they are angels)....
I am not dissing on the necessity of immunizations either.....
I just didn't like all that 'catching up' stuff!!!

And so it begins....

I am finally blogging....

I am excited and a little nervous.  Any one who knows me well knows that I am not a computer type person.  In fact, my almost 20 year old daughter thinks  I am way over my head.  Well, I am going to prove her wrong...I hope!

Why am I blogging....hmmmm......I guess I have some things to say and share, but most importantly I need a place where I can keep my memories alive and accurate.  See the thing here is that I am not getting any younger and there is a whole lot going on in my life....and I need to remember it in the years to come.

So what's going on????

We have currently received our LOA for our second daughter from China!!!!!!

We have both sons graduating from college this year....finally!

We have one son marrying the love of his life in June 2010.

We have our oldest daughter

who is living at home,
who is a sophomore in college,
and who is aspiring to be a pediatric nurse.

And finally, we have our four year old, who as I am writing this first entry, is patiently playing under her table....ummmm.....and waiting for her breakfast....

Look at that wild hair....I guess it is time to get a move on and get our day up and running!
